In the year that PFT celebrates its 60th Anniversary, the flagship production in its Summer Season, the beautifully staged and critically acclaimed My Fair Lady, has became the best selling show in the theatre's history!
In 2009, the previous record for Box Office sales at the Theatre in the Hills was set by PFT's first ever musical, Whisky Galore - A Musical! Now, Lerner and Loewe's masterpiece, based on Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion, has outsold its predecessor - with two weeks of the Summer Season still remaining!
PFT's Chief Executive & Artistic Director John Durnin was delighted by the news: "It's wonderful that the decision that we took to add musical theatre to our repertoire has resulted in such extraordinary success for these shows at the Box Office. Even in difficult times, it's clear that theatre of the highest quality is still in great demand - and that's good not just for PFT, but for Scottish theatre as a whole, and for the economy of Perthshire."
He continued: "We've had a very strong Summer Season overall in our 60th Anniversary year. The economic climate has certainly made life difficult for both the theatre and our audiences, but shows like My Fair Lady, Privates On Parade, See How They Run! and the surprise end-of--season hit, Dr. Angelus, have proved highly attractive for both existing and new audiences alike. And in the case of My Fair Lady, the response has been stupendous."
Two of the four remaining performances of My Fair Lady are already sold out, so time is running out for those who still want to see this superb show. Why not surprise your friends and family and make a Monday night in October a night to remember: book your tickets to see My Fair Lady on Monday 10th October - it's your last chance!
Although Whisky Galore - A Musical! has now lost its title as the best-selling show in PFT history, the good news is that it will have another chance to reclaim its title, Yes, Whisky Galore is back! This smash-hit favourite is being revived at PFT from 21st October to 12th November as the theatre's first ever Autumn production. So Whisky fans need to get booking before that too ends up as a sell-out!
Tickets can be purchased from PFT's Box Office on 01796 484626 or select and pay for your Whisky Galore seats online. |
