Josceline Dimbleby comes to Pitlochry

News Released: 9th November

Spend an evening in the company of one of the country's most successful and creative cookery authors as Josceline Dimbleby takes to the main stage at Pitlochry Festival Theatre on Friday 25th November.

Josceline has written 24 books, including The Almost Vegetarian Cookbook; Cooking for Christmas; Favourite Food; A Taste of Dreams; Cooking With Herbs and Spices and Party Pieces. She also had the first cookery books ever to be sold in Sainsbury's stores with 2 million copies sold to date!

She was also a food columnist for the Sunday Telegraph for over 15 years and is a regular contributor to BBC Radio 4 on programmes such as Woman's Hour and Book of the Week. Her appearance at Pitlochry will focus on her latest book - Orchards in the Oasis.

This is an enlighjosceline-dimblebytening and absorbing account of her lifelong love affair with food. Packed with flavour, humour and adventure, this is a journey that will take you from Josceline's childhood in Damascus to family life in Devon. It is interspersed with 70 irresistible recipes from the diverse cuisines she has experienced on her travels. Unique in their breadth and range, Joscelines's recipes combine inspiration with photography by Jason Lowe and the author's personal photographs of her travels. Orchards in the Oasis is an irresistible book.

Josceline will also be discussing A Profund Secret. For anyone interested in the historical story-lines of the famous Pre-Raphaelite painter, Edward Burne-Jones, this is a fascinating account. At the end of his life he became enamoured of a high-class, society wife and wrote her hundreds of letters expressing this love and his feelings about his paintings. Josceline, only by chance, discovered this secret romance - of her great Aunt! - and her subsequent own personal family research throws intriguing new light on this romance.

There will be a book signing and a chance to (buy a book or three!) as well as meet Josceline after the show.

Discover our history "When staying in Pitlochry during the early part of the war, I chanced to see a stately house with a fairly large garden, quite close to the town. I at once realised that here my dream theatre might well be established in this fashionable resort right in the heart of Scotland"… John Stewart, Founder of Pitlochry Festival Theatre.
