An Evening of Rodgers & Hammerstein

The inimitable Peter Morrison brings six talented voices, including international baritone Richard Morrison, to PFT to perform duets, choruses and scenas from your Rodgers & Hammerstein favourites on Sunday 12th June, 8pm.

rodgers-and-hammerstein_frontPeter Morrison is delighted to be bringing his latest touring show Rodgers and Hammerstein - the Shows and the Story. He says "I seemed to grow up with Rodgers & Hammerstein - they wrote show after show of wonderful lyrical music which in the post-war era won the hearts of an adoring public. Their popularity never seems to dim, as the wonderful Prom concert last summer in the Royal Albert Hall amply demonstrates."

Life is exciting for the Morrison family at the moment with Richard having just completed a season in an international cast in the Royal Albert Hall singing the principal baritone role in Puccini's much loved opera Madam Butterfly, while Jackie has been touring England playing the leading role of Amanda in the famous Noel Coward play Private Lives.

In this production Peter and his accomplished team shine the spotlight on the "Big Five" Oklahoma, South Pacific, The King and I, Carousel and The Sound of Music, all of them record-breaking stage shows which went on to become hugely popular movies.

With solo items, duets, ensembles and scenas performed on stage by highly talented singers and actors, you can be sure of an evening of musical magic. Tickets will be available from Pitlochry Theatre's box office: 01796 484626 or online or try on the door on the night.

From 1951 to the 21st Century...

Discover our history "When staying in Pitlochry during the early part of the war, I chanced to see a stately house with a fairly large garden, quite close to the town. I at once realised that here my dream theatre might well be established in this fashionable resort right in the heart of Scotland"… John Stewart, Founder of Pitlochry Festival Theatre.
