BARRY McFARLANE was born in Dundee in 1961, and was educated in Coupar Angus where he still has his home. Although he attended a brief course at the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee, he is mainly self-taught as an artist, and enjoys painting in watercolour, gouache and acrylic. Wildlife is a great interest and influence and Barry once worked as a taxidermist in Crieff. He is currently painting heraldic crests for Scotcrest in Blairgowrie. Barry’s paintings are in private collections throughout Britain, France and U.S.A. and he has exhibited in this Gallery with considerable success on many occasions.

"When staying in Pitlochry during the early part of the war, I chanced to see a stately house with a fairly large garden, quite close to the town. I at once realised that here my dream theatre might well be established in this fashionable resort right in the heart of Scotland"… John Stewart, Founder of Pitlochry Festival Theatre.
