The future is in your hands

We need your help to continue to develop this very special garden. A further substantial sum is required to complete the project as planned, including the garden infrastructure, additional planting and the commissioning of new art works and sculptures.

Future projects include:

  • Extend & complete external lighting for live performance and safety
  • Extend & complete the irrigation system
  • Install a hydraulic pump system in the burn
  • Install interpretation & display boards including facilities for the visually impaired
  • Create rest areas for those with mobility impairments
  • Install internal furnishings and seating in the David Douglas Pavilion
  • Install an audio visual system in the David Douglas Pavilion
  • Commission new art works and sculpture
  • Create a new entrance and lych-gate off the car park with introductory interpretation
  • Build an ornamental dry stane dyke bridge

Plant Hunters

Hunters History

The Plant Hunters were not just botanists, they were adventurers and explorers. They had to be tough to survive the conditions they faced in far-flung corners of the world. They survived shipwrecks, sieges and slavery and battled with pirates, escaped convicts and hostile natives.
